Virtuoso oud player George Mgrdichian was born in the United States into an Armenian-American family. His mastery of the instrument and versatility earned him widespread praise and esteem. He has been called “the world’s unquestioned master player of the oud” and “the best exponent of the oud” (New York Times). George helped introduce the oud to American audiences and influenced performance and study of the oud through his innovations. He passed away in 2006.
